Spitpaint

Here are some 30 min paintings for the daily Spitpaint group on facebook. Great way to flush out ideas and see if there are any worth going into a finish painting. Topics here are Undead giant, twin blades, and Carnival for the dead.  You can see these images on my facebook page too.

Value comp environment sketch

Trying out a new technique of producing value comps. Selecting shapes with the Lasso tool and shifting values to create depth, light and shadow. Really forces you to be confident in light and shadow placement, as well as thinking clearly the direction of planes on objects.

Color Comps

Quick paint over of the value comp to try out different color schemes an moods. Finally decided on the sunset one in the middle. Does have a good sense of drama.

Value Comp

Increased the res of thumbnail and began figuring out some details in the rocks, trees etc in black and white.

Thumbnails for an environment

Kind of like some of the other thumbs in this bunch. Might come back to them in the future.
